Summary of Choir’s Accomplishment Please click
here to find a summary of our major performances and repertoire in
the past 12 months. Since last September, we have learned 23 new pieces
and had a busy performance schedule. Members who joined NACA special
choirs learned up to 28 new pieces; these are indeed amazing
accomplishments. Let’s keep up the momentum and make the Second
Connecticut Chinese Arts Festival on November 3rd a
success.
September 25, 2007
What an unforgettable and sleepless night! The Sounds of Harmony concert was such a great success that
we are proud to be part of this milestone event. Standing with hundreds of singers on the stage of a world
class music hall, we were touched and inspired by our own music and the enthusiastic applause and standing
ovation from the audience. Even though we were exhausted, we were tremendously rewarded that our choral
concert has received such a response from the audience. I have received an overflow of praises from all
sources, and this concert is indeed the most successful performance we ever had.
Our heartfelt appreciation first goes to you, our members, especially the 27 members who performed, for you
hard work and commitment. Your frequent practice at home and regular attendances of rehearsals were keys
to our success. We are deeply grateful to Conductor Qiao for his vision, guidance and expertise. Joanne Chen
has played a leading role in choir's preparation for the concert, and we sincerely appreciate her
contribution and devotion.
Jianxin will upload concert photos from various sources to our web. Please send your favorite concert photos
to her at jxyang@sbcglobal.net.
There will be NO rehearsal this Saturday. We will take a break before immersing ourselves in the busy
preparation of the Second Connecticut Chinese Arts Festival on November 3.
September 12, 2007
Please find the most recent program for the Sounds of Harmony Concert in Jordan Hall on September 22.
The scale and the quality of this concert are unprecedented - over 200 members from more than eleven
choirs have been working hard to present both western and eastern classic choral pieces.
The choir will purchase a ticket for each member who will perform at the concert so that each of us
could enjoy the music when we are not performing. Please invite your families and friends to the concert
to share our joy of singing, and I am certain that they will be impressed and have a wonderful time.
Please send me your ticket requests ($50, $20, and $15), and I will have the tickets ready for you this Saturday.
September 11, 2007

work. This Saturday, September 15, we will attend the final all-chorus

Asian Festival in downtown Hartford. The following are logistics for
Saturday, September 15:

Dragon Boat Races/Asian Festival in Mortensen Riverfront Plaza in
Hartford. Our performance there is set for 10:30am-10:45am, and Joanne

1:00-5:00pm:
We will attend all-chorus rehearsal in

Summary of Last Saturday's Rehearsal:
We truly enjoyed last Saturday's rehearsal and learned a lot from it -
thanks for all your positive feedback. Conductor Qiao held a high standard for us, and
he listened to us individually. We all felt the pressure to improve and to live up to the
high expectations from the community. At the same time, we were amazed by the powerful
and harmonious music made by hundreds of singers under Conductor Qiao's guidance, and we
were encouraged by the excitement, corporation and the hard work of all choruses. I attached
an updated program flyer. Please invite your family and friends to attend the concert and you
may get tickets from me.
Rehearsal Schedule for this Saturday, September 8:
For this week, Conductor Qiao will lead a three-choir joint rehearsal
on Saturday, 9/8 from 7:30 to 9:30pm in Groton, Connecticut. Click here for address and
driving directions. If you need a ride, please contact Chen Yuanqian (860 808-6796),
Zang Hongbo (203 543-7390), or Yuan Wei (860-389-1139). I'd like to ask everyone
who signed up for the fall concerts to attend this rehearsal. What we plan to rehearse will be
presented in both Jordan Hall (9/22) and Woolsey Hall (11/3) concerts. Conductor Qiao has
asked us to memorize the lyrics before coming to the rehearsal. We will also take a group photo
for the concert program. For the group photo, we suggest that each of us will wear/bring a white
shirt, and ladies please also bring your favorite silk scarf.
Plan for Saturday, September 15:
This will be a busy day packed with activities:

from 10:30 to 10:45am. This annual event has always attracted much attention from the community
and the media. Please invite your family to watch dragon boat races and the shows. I
will send more details soon.
2) Right after our performance, we will continue to drive to Acton, Massachusetts to attend
an all-chorus rehearsal from 1:00 to 5:00pm. This will be the last rehearsal before the concert on 9/22.
